In January we are welcoming Dr James Worsfold to the practice for a fixed term of 1 year. Dr Worsfold has developed protocols with both clinical and non-clinical staff at his practice aimed at improving patient safety and administrative processes to improve patient care while making services sustainable for the future. He also works as clinical director for his local primary care network and plans to do this remotely once a week. Dr Worsfold qualified in 2011 and is keen to gain knowledge and insight into General Practice in a different area. He hopes to contribute in a positive way to the practice, both as a dedicated member of the clinical team and by providing a different perspective following his experiences in healthcare leadership.
We are also welcoming in January a new permanent GP to the team. Dr Shital Tirodkar has been qualified since 2015 and has a special interest in palliative care, mental health and teaching. Dr Tirodkar has previously worked in a large, busy inner-city practice and has experience of looking after a mixture of routine and emergency patients needing GP care. Dr Tirodkar also has a background of working with medical students and supporting them through their training and early years.
We have recently had to say goodbye to our lovely Practice Nurse Gill, she has relocated back to Liverpool to be with her family. Gill will be missed by staff and patients alike and we wish her all the very best with her move!
You may have already met Janna, our new practice nurse who works alongside Sally. She will continue with this role alongside becoming a nurse prescriber in the practice. Health care assistants
Sherri Brown, our new health care assistant will be starting with us in January for 2 days a week, Sherri has been working in general practice for 13 years and brings many years’ experience with her. We are actively recruiting for another Health care assistant to join our team following Ana leaving us at the end of November to further her studies in nursing.
You may well have noticed recently that we also have other Allied Health professionals working with the practice.
Physiotherapy – recently Harriet and Diana have joined our Primary care Network (PCN) as Physio’s working for First Contact Practitioner with Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare. We are able to refer patients with musculoskeletal issues directly into this service if they fit certain criteria. This allows for patients to be dealt with in a timely manner rather than having to go through the GP and then join a waiting list for physiotherapy. You may find that if you are calling or completing an e-consultation for a new musculoskeletal problem that you are offered an appointment with one of these specialists.
Pharmacist – Poh Long is a Sr PCN Clinical Pharmacist working for Chiswick Primary Care Network. She has been a pharmacist for 21 years. Since returning to the UK, Poh started doing some work experience at a GP practice. After that, she joined a practice in Fulham as a practice pharmacist and had been there for the past 3+ years. Poh is now supporting practices in Chiswick with prescribing and you may well be contacted by her to review your medications or treatment plan.
Social Prescribers – Petronilla Duru and Imogen Freethy are social prescribers who have been assigned to our PCN and have been working with patients who need support with things that may not be medical but that have an impact on their lives, ways of coping and general wellbeing. A GP can refer you to a social prescriber if it is felt that this service could benefit you.
We look forward to working with all the new members in our expanding team.
